We were pleased to welcome local police officers to Islamia Girls School on Tuesday 10 March, where they delivered an informative and engaging safety assembly for our students. The session focused on helping students understand how to stay safe both online and on the roads, providing practical and highly relevant advice for young people today.
During the assembly, the officers shared important guidance on online safety, an increasingly significant aspect of modern life. Students learned how to protect their personal information, recognise potential online risks, and use social media responsibly and safely. The officers also discussed road safety, reminding students of the importance of staying alert near traffic, using safe crossing points, and remaining mindful whether walking, cycling, or travelling independently.
In addition to these key topics, the officers provided a range of useful safety tips and advice designed to help students make informed and responsible decisions in their everyday lives. Students were encouraged to ask questions and raise any concerns they may have had. The officers created a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, allowing students to feel comfortable participating in open discussions and seeking clarification on issues that mattered to them.
The visit proved extremely beneficial for our students, helping to raise awareness of real-life safety issues while also developing their confidence in seeking support from trusted authorities. The session equipped students with practical knowledge and strategies to help protect themselves and others both in school and within the wider community.
Events such as these play an important role in supporting students’ personal development, wellbeing, and understanding of responsible citizenship. By engaging directly with local police officers, students were able to strengthen their awareness of community safety while building confidence, communication skills, and a greater sense of responsibility.
Both students and staff were grateful to the police officers for taking the time to visit our school and support the wellbeing and safety of our students. It was an extremely positive and valuable experience for everyone involved.
