Exploring Careers in Architecture and Construction

At Brondesbury College and Islamia Girls School, we are committed to helping students explore future career aspirations and gain a deeper understanding of the wide range of opportunities available to them. With this in mind, Year 9–11 students from both schools were delighted to welcome Ruby, a Senior Design Manager and winner of Construction Idol 2022, who visited the school to share her professional journey within the architecture and construction industry.

During the session, Ruby spoke openly about the experiences, challenges, and achievements that have shaped her career path. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable insight into the realities of working in architecture and construction, allowing them to hear first-hand from an experienced professional in the field.

The visit proved highly beneficial for students, helping them broaden their understanding of potential career pathways and develop greater confidence in pursuing ambitious goals. For those interested in architecture, engineering, or construction, the talk provided practical guidance on the skills, determination, and work ethic required to succeed in these industries.

Ruby also served as an inspiring role model, demonstrating that success is achievable through perseverance, resilience, and hard work. Her message encouraged students to believe in their abilities, remain motivated in their studies, and recognise that their aspirations are within reach. Many students left the session feeling inspired, reassured, and excited about the possibilities their future careers may hold.

Events such as this play an important role in preparing students for life beyond the classroom, helping them make informed decisions about their futures while raising aspirations and encouraging confidence, ambition, and personal growth.
