This spring term, we celebrated the achievements of our Year 10 students who undertook the prestigious LAMDA Grade 6 (Bronze Award) qualifications in Public Speaking and Prose & Verse.
LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) exams are nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual. They provide a structured framework for developing performance skills, including reading fluency, vocabulary enrichment, memory and recall, English language development, and the ability to structure and deliver arguments effectively.
At Islamia, we offer LAMDA Public Speaking as an optional and subsidised enrichment opportunity for Year 10 students, with lessons delivered by an experienced external tutor. Learners are taught how to select suitable topics, prepare and deliver engaging speeches, and present with confidence and clarity. This year, 17 of our Year 10 students completed Grade 6 Public Speaking, with remarkable results:
15 students achieved Distinctions
2 students achieved Merits
A further three students extended their skills by completing the Grade 6 Prose and Verse qualification, gaining an additional literature-focused certification — and all three were awarded Distinctions.
We are also pleased to share that two of our Year 11 students successfully completed their Grade 6 Public Speaking qualification this year.
As LAMDA qualifications from Grade 6 onwards are part of Level 3 awards, they also contribute valuable UCAS points, supporting our students on their path toward higher education, Insha’Allah.
We believe these qualifications help students develop confidence, eloquence, and impact — essential life skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
