Islamia Girls School students from years 7 to 11 took part in the UKMT Intermediate and Junior Mathematical Challenges for 2025. We’re proud to share their achievements!
The national competitions are run by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) to promote problem-solving and enrichment in mathematics. They encourage logical reasoning, critical thinking, and a love of mathematics — and our students rose to the occasion with exceptional results.
UKMT competitions offer a unique opportunity for students to extend their mathematical thinking beyond the classroom. They develop high-level problem-solving skills, confidence, and precision — while having fun with challenging puzzles.
Opportunities await the top performers, such as mentoring, follow-up rounds, and summer schools. And we’re thrilled that our students are engaging with maths at this level.
With Year 10 on work experience, our Year 9 and Year 11 students represented Islamia Girls School in the Intermediate Challenge. Maths teachers, Ms Ameena Qureshi and Ms Rezwana Begum were proud of the overall results and especially excited to report that we have one student, Defne Ercan of Year 8, who will be competing in the next round of the Junior Challenge in June!
