Spiritual & Pastoral Care

Spiritual & Pastoral Care

We strive to support our students holistically, providing pathways for spiritual, moral, and social development through curricular and extracurricular activities.

Our teachers and staff are receptive to their needs, and dedicated to fostering mental resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose.

Our children today face many challenges. By inspiring faith, as well as a deeper understanding of our religious traditions and how they provide solutions to contemporary problems, we:

  • equip our students with the tools to overcome social challenges
  • empower them with the skills to solve personal and wider problems
  • build their mental and emotional intelligence and resilience

As Muslims, our benchmark is the Qur’an and Sunnah (Prophetic example). Through both, we strive to inspire mindfulness of Allah and a greater reality than the self. Through Islamic Adab (manners and good behaviour), we encourage self-respect, social awareness, working for the greater good and empathy in our students.

Assemblies

Every day, students receive a whole school assembly on topical issues.

These aim to provide context and positive encouragement, inspiring them to recalibrate social and personal priorities when faced with challenges which can be mentally or emotionally overwhelming. Assemblies are delivered by the Head Teacher as well as other teaching staff on a rotational basis. Students are also encouraged to participate in assemblies, as a way to develop their public speaking skills and build self-confidence.

Form Tutors

Students are assigned a form tutor, with whom they meet on a regular basis.

The Form Tutor is there to support the student’s needs, in particular, to offer pastoral care and guidance on academic performance, in an effort to foster a positive school environment. They are the first point of contact for students and also help to build strong home-school relationships with parents and guardians. In addition, our Senior Leadership Team is also available to counsel students on an individual basis.

Prayers & Communal Worship

Our students are encouraged to observe regular prayers and participate in communal worship and activities.

In doing so, they benefit from a safe and supportive community and social unity, fostering a sense of connection, purpose and belonging. On a personal level, prayers are opportunities to switch off from the world and reconnect with Allah – engendering mindfulness and inner peace. We strive to remind our students of this, so that they can be fully present in their prayers.

Pupils’ behaviour and personal development and welfare are exceptional... The school’s promotion of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is highly effective.
