We celebrated the Class of 2025 this week, as former students of Islamia Girls School (IGS) and Brondesbury College (BCB) returned to receive their GCSE graduation awards.
Emotions were high on December 10th as our newly graduated students were reunited with their old teachers and friends for the special award ceremony.
With everyone having so much to catch up on, it wasn’t easy getting our excited audience into their seats! Proceedings began with an introduction from our new Head Girl at IGS and Head Boy at BCB, followed by a beautiful recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Abdifatah A. from Year 11.
Our Head Teacher, Mr Ali’s motivational speech was full of good advice for former students and all in attendance, as he reminded us of the importance of valuing our parents and preparing for the next stage of our lives at every stage of our lives.
As the ceremony commenced, our GCSE graduates were invited onto the stage to receive their awards. Hugs and congratulations from their teachers ensued along with group photos to mark the occasion.
We concluded the evening with a speech by visiting pastoral leader, Abshir Mohamed who reminded the new graduates about life outside of an Islamic school and environment, and the responsibilities they now bore as Muslims in the wider community.
Boys and girls, you are the leaders of tomorrow. You are not here to fill a market and make money. You are Muslim. There has to be a positive impact of your existence.Abshir Mohamed
As everyone enjoyed a meal together, we had the opportunity to speak to some of our students one-on-one to find out what they were up to now and what they missed most about their old school. The enduring sentiment from them all was how grateful they were for having received their education in an Islamic environment and the invaluable role that played in their development as confident and empowered young men and women.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025. We at Islamia Schools and all of your teachers wish you all the best in your future studies and careers.
