This year, four teams have been formed to work with Ms. Berry; the BBC School Report Link Teacher and Mrs. Dogan on their reports.
All four teams have completed the reports and met the deadline, but more importantly, they were given an insight of the world of Journalism and were introduced to new skills such as identifying fake news and interviewing. The teams were energetic and diligent. They were determined to carry on their reports and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Team EliteThis year, team Elite chose the topic ‘Teenagers in society’. We chose this topic to portray a positive image on teenagers in the world. We gathered different views on teenagers and as a result, we have received a varied outcome. For instance, a member of the public stated ‘Teenagers should be able to vote at the age of 16.’ We had a very positive experience overall and we look forward to teenagers having a bigger voice in the future.
Team FeminiteThis year, our BBC school report was aimed towards feminism and gender equality. We needed to break the stereotypes that society has created. We chose this topic because feminism has reached its climax as there have been numerous campaigns such as #Timesup, #UNwomen and #We can do it which inspired us to choose this topic. Let’s stand up for feminism and get our voices heard.”
Social Media:We are Team Social from Islamia Girls’ School and we chose the topic ‘Social Media’ to explore its positive and negative effects on young minds. As 12 - 13 years old, we can understand the addiction that young people might develop towards social media, and how it can be quite demanding. We had a few obstacles in order to produce this report. However we overcame them and we hope you enjoy our report!.
