BBC School Report 2015

This year, four teams have been formed to work with Mrs. Khalladi; the BBC School Report Link Teacher on their reports. Three out of the four teams have completed the reports and met the dead line.  The Fourth team made some efforts unfortunately did not complete the work. The school thank year 8s for their excellent effort and is hoping to see more multimedia production from them, in the future, especially that the school has invested recently in the Schools Media kit, including a green screen.  Following is an account of how the teams found this experience:

" The experience truly overwhelmed all of us. At first, we decided who was going to be on camera, an editor or a camera woman. Team Rhino chose a topic that we feel impact the lives of members of the public. As the General Election is coming up, we thought it would be good to focus our school report on lowering the voting age from 18 years old to 16 years old. Team Queens Park shed their focus on our local area and looked at its history.  As for Team Phonic,  they chose to focus on YouTubers.

All of us did a lot of research together on the topics to see what we could use that would be interesting. We didn't want to be biased, therefore we interviewed people with completely opposite viewpoints. Furthermore, teams interviewed some experts in their areas, the parliamentarian candidate for Brent Central, Mr Ibrahim Taguri, a famous Youtuber - ChooChoo's Gaming and Mr. Jim Ford - an active resident of Queen's Park community. Additionally, we used a green screen to get creative backgrounds based on our speech. We learnt about the settings of the lighting and how to use the microphone and set up all the equipment.

Learning how to edit was a real struggle for some of us; however, we all got it in the end. The teams learnt how to take responsibility as well as, working as a team. Over time, we strengthened our friendships working with each other. On a less serious side, it was so much fun. We hope you enjoy watching our reports".
