Welcome to Islamia Girl’s Secondary School 2008 BBC School Report!!
The BBC School Report gives 12 and 13-year-olds from UK schools the chance to make their own news at school and to broadcast it for real on the BBC website. This year at Islamia will certainly be exciting and fun with lots of interesting news and discussions. It is the first year that the school has participated in the project in which 15 students from Year 8 at Islamia Girl’s School will be producing 2 News Broadcast with the help from staff at the BBC and Islamia Girl’s School. BBC News presenter and former teacher, Huw Edwards, is working on the School Report. He said: "Over the years I've run many journalism workshops in schools. So I've seen how much fun it can be and how much can be learnt when there are real deadlines, real audiences and real standards to meet." In October 2007, School Report was nominated for a Children's Bafta in the Secondary Learning category.
