Art work at Islamia for 2008 - 2009
Year 9 Competition winners 2008 - 2009
In History the Year 9 class participated in a competition where they had to produce a piece of creative work on Kilburn from 1750-1900. By visiting Willesden Green Library and the archives on our local area, this helped the pupils to think of new and creative ideas where they had the opportunity to choose what topic they wanted to present and in what format ranging from advertisements, diary entries, magazines and newspapers. Once they had submitted their work the three most outstanding and imaginative pieces of work were chosen as winners. The three winners were: Wafa Elahi who produced a newspaper, The Daily Telegram, Sena ar-Rikaby, Mariam Mirgani and Nuriyah Malik who produced a script on a servant’s life and Mariam Mohammed and Fatima al-Subieti who produced a magazine, Victoriana Vogue. Well done all three for your excellent work and also to the rest of the Year 9 class who made the competition very difficult to choose from. The Year 9’s work can be viewed on the display board outside the Maths room.

Great Women of IslamThe Year 8 class did PowerPoint Presentations on the Great Woman of Islam who were alive during the life of the Prophet (SAW) and who played a major role in the history of Islam and even today.
Some of these presentations included Khadijah (RA), the wife of the Prophet (SAW) and her staunch support of the Prophet (SAW) in times of difficulty, Fatima (RA): the daughter of the Prophet (SAW) who witnessed such brutality at a tender age yet stood by her father and Aishah (RA) the wife of the Prophet (SAW) many of whom quoted sayings of the Prophet (SAW) to name a few. I want to say a huge congratulations to the Year 8’s for their excellent, informative and fun presentations! The presentation that really stood out was on Sumayyah, the first Muslim woman to be martyred for being a Muslim. This was by Eathaar El-Hafawy, Safiyah Hussain and Ummi Taqiyah Abdur- Rahman. Well done girl’s you did a great presentation and should be proud of your hard work! To see the Presentation click here.(requirers Flash player)
