At Islamia we try to provide our students with an education that compares with the best from the National Curriculum together with a most excellent tarbiyyah in Islam. Our girls are proud to be Muslim but are equally proud to be ambitious young women eager to make their mark on the world. Upon leaving Islamia most take up places in some of London’s best sixth form colleges, and all go on to higher education. A wide range of subjects are available for study at GCSE level, and students normally take 10 GCSEs in Year 11.
All subjects are presented within an Islamic ethical framework. As well as the GCSE Islamic Studies, Quran is regularly taught throughout in which students learn about all aspects of the Qur’anic Sciences. As a gateway to understanding the Qur’an, Arabic is also provided for all students regardless of previous knowledge. Native speakers take the GCSE early in year 10, while non-Arabic speakers are taught separately and take the GCSE in year 11.
ASSESSMENT & REPORTINGRegular assessment is used to monitor learning and ensure progress at every stage. Attainment levels achieved at any one stage are used to predict desired progress at the next level. The 2 main points of reference are the Key Stage 2 SATs, and the GCSEs. The school monitors the ‘value added’ at both stages and endeavours to ensure that this is well above the national average. |

To prepare our girls to be valued members of society Citizenship is an integral part of our curriculum. It is delivered through weekly Tutorials, assemblies and time table sessions and leads to a short GCSE qualification. And to develop physical well-being, P.E. is offered once a week in a secure and equipped gym. Students follow a structured programme over 5 years to involve them in a wide range of sporting activities.
