Parents are an integral part of IGS. Twice a year they are invited to parent evenings at the school where they can discuss their daughter’s progress with her teachers. They are also invited to various celebratory evenings, including our Cultural Evening, Awards Ceremony and Charity Evening, as well as fundraisers and summer fairs to help boost our resources.
But the parent-school relationship is not a passive one, by any means. We are fortunate to have a committed group of representatives from each class that forms the parent body ‘Friends of Islamia’. Friends is actively involved in the school’s development, meeting regularly with the Head Teacher, organising social and educational activities as well as various fundraising events. By volunteering their skills, our parents help us to broaden the range of experiences the school can provide for our girls and strengthen the bonds between parents, staff and students to maintain a positive and healthy family atmosphere.
